Tough times

So many areas of the world are struggling with all different problems. Prayers to every corner of the world from Roosevelt to as far as our prayers can go.

Be kind to each other, help each other, and say a prayer for all.  Difficult times will always be, it is how we deal with the difficult times that will decide the outcome.

Be strong, be brave, and you can get through rough times.

Friends camping – fishing – relaxing.

Julie, Carrie, Joe, and Bruce! Life-long friends camping, fishing, and relaxing! Exactly what we do here at Dale’s On Lake of the Wood.

Last night after a long day of fishing these 4 amazing people went with us to Arnesen’s for a bite to eat and a couple of cocktails. Then back here to the Resort and Connie the firebug

got campfire “fired up!!

We sat and visited around the campfire.

So blessed!

Here are some of the results on the lake for these 4.

Storm 7.17.22

Stormy night ~ some damage

The storm was around 12 midnight – 1 a.m. or so and it was here and gone but we did end up with 1.75 inches of rain.

We are still camping and still going strong.

Pumping water out of our road to the campground. 1.75 inches of rain.

Tree down

beach bar roof tin -small damage.

This is the tough one~ broke my heart! BOTH PERGOLA’S are toast! The wind picked up the pergola and throw it 25 yards into the wooded area to the South of the Lakeshore beach area.

All 8 chairs and 2 tables were picked up and are laying in the woods. Not sure about the chairs if they are ok but both tables are trashed.

Red lawn chair center and to the right is the base of one of our Pergolas.

This is one of the two Pergolas.

The tabletop is gone – this lawn chair might be ok!

Up in the trees over 25 -35 yards from the beach is the roof of one of the Pergolas. See the white in the center which is the underside of the roof and the black dark line is the frame of the Pergola.

Few more trees down.

Beach Clean up 7.15 and 7.16.22

Beach Clean up 7.15 and 7.16.22

We got a good couple of days into cleaning up the East beach area.

Little concerned about the weather this coming Wed. so we are going to stop for now and see what takes place Wednesday.

Dale pushed rock back to the rip-rap area.  All these rocks were carried up onto the beach area because of the high water and wind causing the large waves to push rocks and debris up on the beach area.

Our shoreline to the East -access to the lake for swimming fun-will be smoothing out the edges and make it more swim-friendly later next week!

We are pushing all the rocks back to the rip-rap area where they are supposed to be!! Nice job cleaning up Mr. Dale!!

The not-so-nice visitor showed up and stayed!!! Guess this tree will make a nice campfire!!!!

Few of these weed clumps too!!! To the burn pile you will go, I think!!

Chairs all cleaned, along with the tables! Shining them all and back where they belong so we can enjoy a beautiful lakeside view. Feel that wind on our face, sunglasses on, and shade for those of us that prefer just a little sun, not a lot of sun!!

LOOK AT OUR SHORELINE NOW 7.16.22 –

WE MAKE A GREAT TEAM, DALE AND I DO!!

Oh looking so nice! We still have more to do but what an improvement! Just in time for our weekend camping guests to enjoy. Dale brought in a couple of loads of sugar sand, but, again, we want to wait until we can finish the rip-rap repairs before the final loads of sugar sand. But great beach right now and will get even better over the summer and fall.

Look at this view from our Lakeside Pergolas!!! Aww, can you say tranquility!!!

7.16.22 Sunset from our East shoreline!

Come camp with us so you can “Camp * Fish * Relax” We would love for you to join us!!!              Call Connie at 320-630-6734!!

Beach Bar has new lights!!!

Well for those of you that were

here with us earlier this summer…

Yep!  I found the new lights!!

We bought new lights for the beach bar in April and I couldn’t find them.  I searched high and low!

Where did I put those darn lights???

Finally found them in the new bike baskets we bought!

Oh My!

So today, Friday 7.15.22, we have the lights, and again, thank you Mr. Dale for your help, the two of us took down the broken lights and put up the new and we just love them.

Took down the previous solar lights, they had it tough over the winter and didn’t make it to this summer! Removed all the staples from the first set of lights and then Mr. Dale helped put up the new lights!!

Sat night at the Beach bar with camping guests. Night time coming – looking good but will look even better the darker it gets! Oh by the way the guy on the left~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!!!!!

Beach house Cleaned! 7.15.22

ON THE TOP OF OUR LIST THIS MORNING, FRIDAY 7.15.22

Here is our little day house we converted into our lakeshore beach house where we store all the campground fun toys! We have 2 sets of bean bag boards for the well-known bean bag game or as some say cornhole game. We have 2 Lilly pads for floating in the water with a sand-filled anchor to boot! We have lawn Yahtzee, bad mitten rackets, and horseshoes!! Fun Fun and more Fun!

The horizontal line you see is how high the water level was inside our little beach house.

Remove all our summer fun toys and start scraping out the dried mud and sand.

Everything out and cleaning up all the toys!

All clean and everything is going back in!!! Looking good!

Lilly Pad’s ready for summer fun!!

Cornhole boards and bags ready – summer shade umbrellas good to go!

Thank you Mr. Dale for your help! All looking so nice now!!!

Holding our own!

Holding our own! Back on track with camping!

-minus 7 campsites still flooded- but still going strong!

All the hard work done has paid off~ we are holding our own even when the waves have been hitting the shoreline pretty hard a couple of times this past week.  We still have the East shoreline and beach to complete.  Dale has been hauling Pit Run and sand this week and on the East shoreline, Dale has pushed some of the rocks back to the rip-rapped area of our shoreline.

~We will never forget those that helped us~

Thank you so much.

Dale left yesterday, on an overnight trip to Shakopee, MN for equipment and supplies,

and is already in Bemidji this morning!

While he was away, I was able to get the lakeside campground mowed, moved all the equipment out of the campground to high ground, my usual routine of cleaning the bathroom and fish cleaning building, cleaned a sleeper for Friday guests checking in, and finished my day with having our Jess here to help with some computer issues for me while I worked on resort paperwork.

It was a really good day!

We are excited about our camping guests coming to us today and tomorrow, Pat has been with us since Tuesday – really blessed for the guests getting back to camping after being closed due to the flooding!

Harbor Project Update 7.6.22

Harbor Application – Update from 7.6.22

Spoke with Brent Mason, Bemidji DNR office who is our main contact regarding our Harbor application.  I sent an Email and have left messages via phone calls over the last 2 weeks and Brent was able to take my call on Wed of last week.

Our Archeology Report from Mr. Justin, Archeologist from Minneapolis, was submitted to the Director of the Red Lake Tribe Council on Friday, May 27, 2022.  Mr. Mason has not received the acceptance of the study from the Tribal Council as of this day.  Mr. Mason did say he would contact the Director of Red Lake Tribal Council to see if they have come to a decision on the results of the Archeology study.

Mr. Mason, Brent, has submitted our application to his supervisor for review, recommendations, or approval for permitting and is waiting for his supervisor’s results/decision.

I will be contacting Mr. Mason late next week to see if we have an updated status on our Harbor application.
