What have we been up to???

LAKE CONDITIONS

We have more snow again this morning. That would bring us up to about 7 inches of snow I am guessing. This snowfall was light and fluffy.  The first 4.5 inches was wet and heavy with lots of wind.  We do have a crack between Twin Island’s and Gull Rock that is 10 feet wide at this point in time. There is a report from a snowmobiler that there is a crack between Arnesen’s reef and 16 mile that was 3 feet wide as of yesterday, 12.15.24.  So that being said we are not opening our access until these 30-degree temps change, which they will, and the ice conditions become safer.

SLEEPERS AND DAY HOUSES

We have been moving and shaking over the last week.  HUGE THANK YOU TO MATT, TOM S., JUSTIN, AND JAYDEN!  As of yesterday, we have all of our Sleepers and all of our Day houses out in our start up fishing spot.  Not all are set up as of yet but should have them set up over this next week.  All reservations are a go; however, this is December, and all reservations remain “BASED ON ICE CONDTIONS”.

WINTER LAKE ACCESS

Due to the cracks that are open we will be keeping our winter lake access closed until we see conditions improve.  Our winter lake access will be tracks only, if your track snow machine is able to pull your fish house you are able to bring your fish house out our access.  We have our winter lake access information line available 7 days a week/24 hour a day with the most recent update by calling 218-442-6661.    Dale checks the lake conditions every morning between 6 and 6:30 a.m. and with his report I update the winter lake access information for you each day.

Thank you to all who follow us, and we will continue to keep you updated the best we can!  Thank you to all who joined us this week for ice fishing.  Thank you for being flexible and staying in the sleepers on land and fishing in the day houses during the day.  We so enjoyed your company and thank you for coming to fish with us.

Dale and Connie along with all our team!  Thank you!

Webcam looks like the website has it offline again.

I checked the website and did find the live feed from our webcam show’s Twitch has us offline again.  I have placed a call to Wiktel and hopefully Dilon will have it back online again tomorrow.

It is all in Wiktel’s hand’s and they will get it back again.  Not sure why Twitch feed provider keeps going offline,

but Dilon will figure it out.

Hang in there with us – and thank you!!

We have one day house on the edge of the parking lot ready for ice.  Dale and Matt are out right as we speak checking ice.

We will keep you posted on our progress.  We know as of right now we are unable to get Sleepers out as of today, but as soon as ice conditions seems to be good we are ready to move them out and set them up.

We are certainly loving the -10 degrees today!!!

Snowing today 12.7.24

Ice Conditions are making progress- we are finding 5.5-7 inches of ice.  We have started to work on our trail where we are starting our ice fishing season 2024-2025!

We have snowfall today and we will see how much accumulation by tomorrow noon and then get right back to checking ice and grooming.

We will post an update in a couple days.  All our guests that have a reservation with us in the next week we will be calling you with an update tomorrow evening to let you know what the plans are for starting of ice fishing.

Where there is a will there is a way!!!
Since we are having a trying with our live-view via our webcam – we are going to post you pictures each morning to keep you informed of the ice making adventure here at

Dale’s On Lake of the Woods!!

Today’s lake view photo from our web cam. I will post a photo every morning at this time as we are working with Wiktel to get our website live stream up and running again. As you can see we remain at 100% open water. We have had slush over this last week with no ice development. The temp’s are single digits starting tomorrow night – perfect to work on making ice!! Hang in there!

Ice Conditions 3.7.24

Ice Condition:

We were forecasted for 2-5 inches of snow- accumulation did not even reach 1/2 inch and the wind was blowing 30 + mph last night!

New forecast this morning is looking like a warm up to possibly 50 degrees and 2 days of rain this week. We will continue to keep our guests who have reservations updated by phone.

When ice conditions deteriorate due to these weather changes we will be shutting down our sleeper and dayhouse rentals for this ice season.

Access remains closed to the public.

Thank you

Dale and Connie

Lake Condition Update 1.8.24

As some know we had the lake open up quite a bit on New Years Day and then on the 2nd of January the ice slid back to the So. and pushed over the existing ice overlapping 15 feet.  Needless to say, we have been unable to cross over this crack until the temps dropped, which is taking place over the last few days.  Thankfully this is happening as we speak, no more 30-degree temps!  We now are in the single digit temps and the high, so far today, has been 10 degrees.

The wind is only at 4 mph in hopes this ice will sit idle and freeze where it sits.  So, all good news.

The plan is putting a bridge over the crack and our team is checking ice thickness! Did find the least amount 5 inches out there but up to 16 inches.  That may have gained some over the last day with the nice cold temps.  Dale will be heading out checking ice thickness today or tomorrow in hopes of moving houses to another new location, looking to go to deeper water.

Fish Bite has been a tough one, some nice fish being caught, morning bite, afternoon bite, makes for a long day.

Here is some pictures of the nice Northerns caught by Byron’s group Sat and Sun this past weekend.

We have not opened the winter lake access at this point in time but will let you know

when we will open for those to fish on their own.

Ice Conditions

Ice Conditions 12.1.23

Dale and I checked ice this morning around 8:30 a.m.

There still remains large areas of open water between the shoreline and Gull Rock, also open water from Gull Rock towards twin rocks continuing for a distance towards Twin Islands

We do have our webcam available for you to see out

over the lake from our shoreline.

Go to our Front page of our website and follow page down to the bottom center and

see a live view of Gull Rock – Twin Rock – Twin Island areas.

Dale and I will periodically move the camera for different views.
