Remembering all Military this Memorial Day

Memorial Day USA

  • Monday, May 27, 2024

Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. It was formerly known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day and it is traditionally seen as the start of the summer season.

Another productive week (then it started to rain)

Harbor work continues and going quite well!  We are ever so blessed with Tom S. here with us every Sat & Sun and is just a phone call away in between!
We worked on the Harbor, new lakeside benches, night crawlers caught in the rain- 4 doz to be exact, fridges in summer sleepers, new seat covers on beach bar stools,
cleaned sleepers & set-up in campsites, picnic tables, fire-pits in campsites, lawn mowing – in between rain showers-whew!!

Dale & I have this teamwork thing figured out, oh forgot, we stocked up on ice cream & popsicles for summer treats for our guests!

Top of the list coming up is campsite garden hoses, clotheslines in each campsite -we need to hang up those swimsuits and beach towels to dry after a fun time swimming in Lake of the Woods beautiful lake! Then raking, flower beds, flower pots, humming bird feeders (as the hummingbirds wait patiently for me to feed them) and last but not least the lighted campsite # poles

and

bird houses!
😍 Fun around every corner😍

Ice cream or Popsicle -what is your favorite?

Can you see the robin?

Look and see what we have been up to!!!

Getting back into the swing of things!  My every morning walk to the lake with a full cup of coffee has resumed with a prayer of gratitude while I stand with toes at the edge of the water!

We have wrapped up our annual Dr.’s visit’s and all is well, thank goodness.

The, what seems like every day, rain has stopped for a couple days.  Moisture is a good thing, but every day is not fun to work in especially with the cold and wind.  Warmer but windy today!  Water levels coming up a bit which is good.

Dale, Tom S., and I have been making progress and here are a few pictures of what we have been up to over the last couple weeks.

OFFICE

We would like to thank our son Justin and his friend Dan Janssen for the work they did to refinish the floors in the office and the fish cleaning building.  Dan does this type of work for a living with his own business.  Dan also sealed up and did some finishing work on our office countertops.  Thank you so much guys.  Dan brought his young son with who helped out whenever Dad needed him!

Office walls, windows, floors all cleaned and now we just need to move everything back in then we will be summer season ready in this area where each guests camping fun begins here at Dale’s On Lake of the Woods Resort. Little hometown camping resort🥰 Camp 🏕️ Fish🎣 Relax 🛶

FISH CLEANING BUILDING

Floor done, little clean up, and ready for summer fishing!
GREAT JOB GUY’S – THANK YOU !!!!

HARBOR/SHORELINE PROTECTION PROJECTS

Dale and Tom S. are making great progress on the harbor.  The well casing poles inside the harbor are for the docks and the well casing poles on top will be for the protection berm or top of the harbor and for the guardrails with steps that will reach the docks!!  Thank you to Tom our right hand man helping us each weekend!!

CAMPGROUND

Dale did some welding on the dock section today, clean the boat ramp a bit, setting up our summer sleeper cabin’s in campsites, leveled out a spot for our lakeside beach bar!! By Friday we will have the campground whipped into shape.  Rain delays making it a little tough but we keeping moving forward.😀

Dale & Tom S. Harbor prep work!

Cutting well casing pipe for guardrails

Guardrail Stacked and ready for installation!! Possibly next week!

Dale has the harbor drained.  Dale & I put in the stakes marking the outside parameters that we remeasured and roped off  today.  Some rock and dirt moved down closer to the harbor.
