Fall Fishing at its Best!!

On the south end…  Great catches of walleyes along the south shore. There are various schools of walleyes in many locations.  A big school of walleyes still in front of Lighthouse Gap (mouth of Rainy River) in 24′ – 29′.  Anglers on fish in front of Zippel Bay, Long Point, Rocky Point and Garden Island.  Anglers having success anchored up and jigging.  Gold, orange, glow and pink hot colors with a live or frozen shiner.  Anglers going through a lot of bait catching all sizes of walleyes.

On the Rainy River…   Emerald shiners and walleyes are in the river.  Anglers are reporting catches from the mouth of the river at Wheeler’s Point upstream 42 miles to Birchdale.  Waves of walleyes move through periodically.  Jigging and pulling crankbaits producing walleyes.  Good walleye fishing continues in Four Mile Bay as well. Sturgeon anglers continue to catch good numbers of sturgeon.

Up at the NW Angle…  Walleyes fishing remains good. Garden Island, points with current, neck down areas and at mouths of bays where shiners are running.  Big schools of shiners showing up.  Jigging very effective as waters cool.  Crappie bite is good.  Muskie fishing remains strong.
